East coast rains, Beijing - Strong winds and heavy rain expected to hit the east coast of China during a tropical storm Meari to the northwest of the southern Yellow Sea waters, according to a statement issued by the meteorological authorities Sunday.

Tropical storm Meari will shave off the eastern coast of Shandong Peninsula, or possibly land around the area between Sunday afternoon and evening before turning to the northeast to the border between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and China, said the National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China Meteorological Administration said in a statement it.

NMC also predicted that between 08:00 Sunday to 08:00 Monday, the eye of tropical storm will bring wind, and wind-powered six to 10 Km menghempas waters of northeastern China's vast southern and northern Taiwan, coupled with heavy rain in southeastern and northeastern Liaoning Province in the north of Shandong Peninsula.

The statement urged the local government agencies to monitor the movement of tropical storms and issuing early warnings to the public in a timely manner.

As a precaution, the NMC recommends that the ship must return to port to avoid damage, meetings in the open space is canceled, a dangerous building repaired or removed, and local government departments should be vigilant and ready to respond in case of emergency.

Previously, the city of Shanghai high-speed battered by strong winds and heavy rain during a tropical storm vortex Meari heading north, hit the coastal areas of the country.

Meari full strength, still gaining strength and may soon be a hurricane, reaches the sea from Shanghai about Saturday night, according to Shanghai Municipal Meteorological Station.
