Afghan officials say 60 people were killed in a bomb attack at a hospital in Azra district of Logar province, eastern Afghanistan, Saturday (25 / 6).
An official of Logar province, Din Mohammad Darwaish, said the death toll likely to grow because there are still victims trapped under rubble.
"The target of this explosion is not yet clear but certainly a hospital was attacked and killed civilians," he said.
The explosives are placed inside the car at public hospitals. Besides those killed, this incident also makes hundreds of residents were injured. Many of those killed and injured were women and children who are in clinics and staff alike.
Authorities blamed the Taliban were behind the attack, but a Taliban spokesman denied this, saying the group does not aim at civilians as targets.
BBC correspondent in Kabul, Bilal Sarwary, said the central government has almost no control in the area of Azra. Azra is located near the border with Pakistan and is known as a resistance movement and smuggling operations.
A day earlier, 10 people were killed and 24 others wounded in an attack in Kunduz province. President of the United States, Barack Obama, said it would withdraw some troops from the country of Afghanistan.
